Just more than two dozen kids in state custody expended the evening in business place at the Davy Crockett Tower in downtown Nashville this summer while the facility they normally sleep in was renovated.

A place for small children in Nashville awaiting foster house placement closed for renovations on June 8, reported Jennifer Donnals, a spokesperson for the Tennessee Office of Children’s Providers. The updated Davidson County DCS Useful resource Linkage Office reopened Sunday.

On Monday, Donnals instructed The Tennessean it is not a violation of DCS policy to bring kids to DCS places of work “whenever day or evening.”

“Our definition of right away is kids who are introduced into custody in advance of midnight and remain in the workplace right after 4 a.m.,” Donnals said.

In the course of renovations, children were introduced to the Davy Crockett business space at 500 James Robertson Parkway, Donnals claimed, and in some scenarios put in the evening there.
